How old are you, exactly? This age calculator takes your date of birth and tells you your age in years, months and days, the total number of days you have been alive, the day of the week you were born and how many days are left until your next birthday. Change the second date to find someone’s age on any past or future day.

Quick answer: Age = whole years since birth + whole months since the last birthday + remaining days. Born May 15, 1990 → on October 3, 2026 you are 36 years, 4 months and 18 days old: 436 months, 1,898 weeks or 13,290 days, with 224 days to your 37th birthday.

How to use the age calculator

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Leave Age on this date as today, or pick another date.
  3. Press Calculate. You will see your exact age, your age in months, weeks, days and hours, your next birthday and the weekday you were born.

How is age calculated?

Step What is counted Example (May 15, 1990 → Oct 3, 2026)
1 Whole years May 15, 1990 → May 15, 2026 = 36 years
2 Whole months after the last birthday May 15 → Sep 15 = 4 months
3 Remaining days Sep 15 → Oct 3 = 18 days
Total 36 years, 4 months, 18 days

Leap years are included automatically: every year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except century years not divisible by 400 (2000 was a leap year, 1900 was not).

Age in different units

Unit How it is calculated Example
Months years × 12 + months 436 months
Weeks total days ÷ 7 1,898 weeks 4 days
Days days between the two dates 13,290 days
Hours days × 24 318,960 hours

How to read your result

  • Whole years matter for legal ages such as driving, voting or retirement; most rules count your age as of the birthday itself.
  • Months are used for babies. Pediatricians track development in months up to age 2; the due date calculator helps before birth.
  • Need a percentage? For example, what share of your life you have spent in a city, use the percentage calculator.
  • Adults: age changes your calorie needs; the calorie calculator takes it into account, and the BMI calculator applies adult categories from age 20.

Common mistakes

  1. Subtracting only the years. If your birthday has not come yet this year, you are one year younger than the difference in years.
  2. Ignoring leap days when counting days by hand.
  3. Using 30 days for every month. Month lengths vary from 28 to 31 days.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my exact age?

Count the whole years since your birth date, then the whole months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. Someone born on May 15, 1990 is 36 years, 4 months and 18 days old on October 3, 2026: 36 full years to May 15, 2026, 4 full months to September 15, and 18 more days.

How many days old am I?

Subtract your date of birth from today’s date and count the days, including leap days. A person born on May 15, 1990 is 13,290 days old on October 3, 2026. The calculator shows the total in days, weeks, months and hours.

How do you calculate age in months?

Multiply your full years by 12 and add the months since your last birthday. At 36 years and 4 months, that is 36 × 12 + 4 = 436 months. Age in months is commonly used for babies and toddlers.

What if I was born on February 29?

In common years, people born on leap day usually celebrate on February 28 (some choose March 1). This calculator treats February 28 as the birthday in common years when counting down to your next birthday.

How many days until my birthday?

The calculator counts the days from the selected date to your next birthday and tells you which age you will turn. Someone born on May 15 has 224 days to go on October 3.

Can I calculate age on a past or future date?

Yes. Change the ‘Age on this date’ field to any date to find how old someone was on a specific day, such as a wedding or graduation, or how old they will be on a future date.

What day of the week was I born?

Enter your date of birth and the calculator shows the weekday. For example, May 15, 1990 was a Tuesday.

Why do some age calculators give a different number of days?

Months have different lengths, so the leftover days depend on the method. This calculator counts whole months from your birth date (for example, January 31 plus one month is the last day of February) and then counts the remaining days, which is the method most people use.
